Big Ben on the wrist

Mido will soon present the three professional watch designers it has selected to go head-to-head in a challenge to design and develop a limited edition Mido watch inspired by an internationally renowned architectural landmark : Big Ben in London.

Faithful to its values, Mido continues to pay tribute to architectural icons that have left their mark on history. This new special watch will be directly inspired by Big Ben, just like Mido’s All Dial collection was inspired by the Colosseum in Rome and the Great Wall range by the Gre at Wall of China.

The general public will be invited to judge the results and will also have the opportunity to vote at http://contest.mido.ch/

Big Ben

Big Ben is the nickname of the clock tower located at the Palace of Westminster in London. Its official name is the Elizabeth Tower and it houses the second largest four-faced chiming clock in the world.

Completed in 1858, Big Ben has become one of the most prominent architectural symbols of the United Kingdom and is a mark of true design.

Mido & Architecture

Mido’s philosophy combines aesthetics, authenticity and functionality. The refined, understated designs of Mido timepieces endow them with a resolutely timeless quality. Beyond fashion and passing trends, Mido watches are thus distinguished by their durability. These essential values are shared by all iconic and historic architectural landmarks.

Mido has therefore enjoyed a particularly close relationship with the world of architecture for many years. The design of its collections pays homage to some of the most celebrated monuments on the planet. The All Dial collection was directly inspired by the Colosseum in Rome, while the Great Wall range takes its inspiration from the eponymous Chinese structure.

Furthermore, Mido is a partner of the International Union of Architects (UIA), which represents 1.3 million architects around the world.
